Universal Design for Learning-Dr. Brooks Vostal
November 13, 2021 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am CST
Ohio Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders is pleased to invite you to the next event in our 21-22 “Take a Breath” Series: Universal Design for Learning, presented by Dr. Brooks Vostal.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an evidence-based, scientifically valid framework for planning and delivering instruction that fosters access for all children. The fundamental premise behind UDL is that lessons can be planned in ways that readily adapt to the variability among students, rather than expecting students to adapt to – or teachers to retro-fit – lessons to meet students’ needs. This presentation will introduce teachers to the UDL Principles of Multiple means of Engagement, Representation, and Action & Expression. We will examine a lesson planning tool that structures a way to use UDL and describe well-researched strategies that can be used as part of UDL to support learners.
